More from Iceberg Alley - Mehr Eisberge...

I'm posting in English for a change to be able to share more than just pictures with our friends across Canada - even though the pictures probably describe better than any words the fascination of the icebergs we've been watching off the coast of Newfoundland. It's an exceptionally good year - I'm told that there haven't been this many icebergs in the area since 1991. The lousy weather in the past week that came with persistent easterly winds has pushed many of them right to the shore. Yesterday, I spotted a nice iceberg just off Signal Hill, and today I went on a boat tour with Galin, my PMC colleague Cezarina's husband, who's in the city for work. It was absolutely amazing how many icebergs we saw in the Bay Bulls area... And the size of them is really impressive. Anyway, have a look yourselves, I've added a lot of new photos to the iceberg slideshow. Now keep in mind that this is 10000 year old ice from the last ice age that broke off Greenlands glaciers...
