Weihnachten & Silvester 2010

[English below] Auch diesmal waren wir über Weihnachten wieder in Österreich um Zeit mit Familie und Freunden zu verbringen, Ski zu fahren und auszuspannen. In Innsbruck haben wir mit Klaus Sylvester gefeiert und waren im solo vino essen, in Lech hat Laura ihren neuen Ski getestet, mit Ebi, Martin und Johannes war ich auf einer Spitzenskitour zur Rotbühelspitze, und auch sonst hatten wir (trotz Zwangspause und langer Wartezeit auf die Koffer) eine feine Zeit...  Es tut doch immer wohl, im so vertrauten Vorarlberg und in Innsbruck zu sein... Fotografiert hab'ich diesmal nicht viel, aber ein paar weiter Bilder findet ihr im Fotoalbum hier.

Like in previous years we spent the Christmas break in Austria, and after a trip to Ottawa right upon my return, I am now finally able to write a little post about our time there. We enjoyed spending time with family and friends, skiing, good food and good company.  In Innsbruck, we went for dinner at  our favorite Italian place, visited one of my dads old friends, and spend New Years Eve in the city watching the fireworks with Klaus. In Vorarlberg, among other things, we spent a couple of days skiing in Lech & at Hochjoch, where Laura testet her new skis, I played hockey with my buddies and had a fantastic day ski touring with Ebi, Johannes and Martin. And then it was simply nice to just be in Vorarlberg and in Innsbruck and connect with my roots... So in spite of luggage delays and a forced break due some bug picked up along the way, it was a good trip. I didn't take many photos this time, but a few are below, and in the album here.

Skitour an der Rotbühelspitze - Unbelievable powder in the backcountry....

Auf einer Skitour durch Valizfenz-Tal zur Rotbühelspitze bei Gargellen gab es auf den kalten Schattenhängen wunderbaren Pulverschnee / The snow during an alpine alpine touring trip (basically winter hiking with the benefit of the downhill) we encountered wonderfully light and fluffy powder - what a joy to ski....

Sylvester haben wir in Innsbruck mit Klaus verbracht / We spent New Years Eve in Innsbruck where the fireworks draw some 70000 people to the streets...
