Gros Morne Park und Marble Mountain

Laura war in letzter Zeit öfters beruflich in Corner Brook an Neufundland's Westküste. Ich habe daher letztes Wochenende die Gelegenheit genutzt, das vermutlich kleinste Passagierflugzeug der Welt bestiegen (man konnte mit den Händen gleichzeitig die Fenster links und rechts berühren), und mich auf zu einem Skiwochenende am Marble Mountain und im Gros Morne National Park gemacht. Beides hat sich absolut gelohnt - das Skifahren mit Laura (die fahrtechnisch grosse Fortschritte macht) hat wirklich Spass gemacht, und wie man im Video hier erkennen kann war ich teilweise recht flott unterwegs, sofern die Piste frei war... Auch ein Abstecher zum Western Brook Pond und Schneeschuhwandern in den Tablelands (Skitour war Schneemässig leidern nicht möglich) war wirklich beindruckend - Gros Morne Park ist im Sommer wie im Winter eine Reise wert, doch die verschneiten Tablelands und der Blick auf das sich bis zum Horizont erstreckende Packeis auf dem Meer waren schon ein ganz neues Erlebnis. Last weekend we took advantage of Laura's business trip to Corner Brook and stayed for the weekend to go skiing at Marble Mountain. I boarded what was possibly the smallest passenger plane in the world (I could touch the windows on the left and right at the same time) and joined Laura on the West Coast, where I had a lot of fun zipping down the less busy runs (video here), and Laura graduated from the easy beginner runs to comfortably ski the Black Diamond runs (well done). In addition to skiing I also paid a winter visit to the stunning Gros Morne National Park (Laura was unfortunately at work and couldn't come). The World Heritage Site Park is well worth the visit summer or winter, but snowshowing in the Tablelands, looking out on the ocean ice extending to the horizon, or hiking in to frozen Western Brook Pond was definitely special.
