Wir sind seit ein paar Tage wieder von einem einwöchigen Urlaub auf der Yucatan Halbinsel (Karte) zurück, wo wir Laura's 30er gefeiert, am Strand ausgespannt, und auch etwas Maya Kultur erfahren haben... Es war eine wirklich feine Zeit, und neben Laura's Geburtstag war eines der Highlights ein Ausflug nach Chichén Itzá, der heiligen Stadt der Maya im Dschungel von Yucatan. Ein besonderes Erlebnis, das auch etwas nachdenklich stimmte, war der Besuch eines kleinen Maya Dorfes, wo die Menschen noch sehr einfach leben, und man den Kindern mit ein paar Süssigkeiten eine Riesenfreude machen kann... We've been back from a week in Mexico, where we spent a week on the Yucatan Peninsula (map) to celebrate Laura's birthday, relax on the beach, and explore a bit of the Mayan culture. In addition to Laura's birthday, a highlight of the trip as an excursion to Chichén Itzá, the holy city of the Mayans in the Yucatan jungle. Another nice experience was a visit to a current day Maya village, where people live a very simple, mostly selfsufficient life, and a bit of candy makes the local children's day... So much for some context for our pictures to tell more of a story...
