Dildo Run Trip (19.-23. August)

[English below] Es ist schon wieder eine Weile her seit mein Bruder Johannes hier auf Besuch waren, und ich habe mittlerweile (nach einer Woche in Ottawa, und dem Durcheinander um Hurricane Igor) etwas Zeit gefunden, meine Fotos zu sortieren. Wir haben viel unternommen mit Mama und Johannes, daher werde ich das ganze in mehrere Eintäge hier aufteilen, beginnend mit einem mehrtägigen Kayakcamping Trip in der Dildo Run Gegend bei Twillingate. Johannnes und ich hatten schon eine Weile keine längere Outdoor-Tour mehr gemacht, und ich hatte mich dementsprechend sehr auf die Sache gefreut. Bevor wir uns aber auf den Weg machten musste Johannes am Long Pond in St. John's noch einige Kayak Grundlagen üben (Selbstrettung nach Kentern), was er wie erwartet bravourös absolvierte. Mit 2 Kayaks auf dem Auto gings dann also los richtung Nordostküste von Neufundland zum Dildo Run Provincial Park, und als Basislager für eine Rundfahrt durch den Dildo Run mit seinen vielen Inseln diente. Nach der ersten Nacht am Zeltplatz sind wir schliesslich in der früh losgepaddelt und haben so 4 Tage lang per Boot die Gegend erkundet, auf Inseln übernachtet, und die Zeit der Wildniserlebnis genossen... It's been a while since my mum and my brother Johannes visited us here in Newfoundland, and after a week in Ottawa and some disruption caused by Hurricane Igor, I finally have found some time to sort through the pictures I took during the visit. We did a lot of different things, so I'll break the story down into a few different posts here, starting with a kayak camping trip to the Dildo Run area near Twillingate. It had been a few years since Johannes took a backcountry trip together so was really looking forward to the adventure. The night before the trip started, I took Johannes to Long Pond for some self-rescue practice (which he skillfully mastered) and the next day we picked up a second kayak at The Outfitters, loaded the car and headed to the northeast coast of Newfoundland. We stayed at Dildo Run Provincial Park Campsite overnight and then headed out on the water for 4 days and three nights to explore the area.  As you can probably tell from the map and pictures below, we had a great time, enjoying the wilderness adventure...
